Salt/grit on pavements ...

All the talk about weather is of a cold snap hitting the UK from this weekend. If pavements/roads get gritted do you wash your dogs paws after a walk or ignore it? I'm just concerned as I believe salt can dry the dogs pads out.

Hi Jenny I always rise Chloe's paws if we go on salted roads otherwise she would lick them and ingest the salt.
I live on a lane which isn't salted so don't need to worry too often .

You can also buy a preparation similar to paw wax to protect the paws but it is quite expensive and I have never used it myself.

There is a cheaper alternative available made from beeswax if you Google paw wax.

Mine always have the Pawz boots on when they are walked and these stop any worry about the salt or grit thank goodness.
