He doesn't want to go court and hire a lawyer and then lose and have nothing happen. He would rather just pay the bills and move on.

I've decided to speak to our police chief about this. We know him, he comes around often to observe our street because of the number of kids on our block.

We will see what he says.

I am sure you and Baxter together will win through together. You are very brave and I applaud you for that. Have you considered anti depressants? I suffer from PTSD and have been on Prozac for 15 years ... wonderful drug to help you through the bad moments. Best of luck and do let us know how you and Baxter do.
I am on medications to help the panic attacks, I'm disabled so increased one of the meds I already take. My brother is retired military and also suffers from PTSD so he was a huge help in providing me with some breathing excersises and cognitive behavior coping ideas.

He also ordered me a baton with an electrical charge to carry for the future. I'll be taking lessons on how to use it for "fight" vs "flight". In my state I cannot carry enough pepper spray to stop a pit bull so this was my only other option.

Maybe I will relax and feel safer when I have it.

I need to thank you all for responding. I know I'm in US and most/all of you are not. But the outreach is helping me tremendously.

On all the other forums I've been on - not a single person responded.

I am truly grateful for every one of you and your advice.

Today I'm calling a behavior specialist for both my dogs, and also signing up for training as well.

Pepper and Baxter thank you from the bottom of their puppy hearts for helping us <3

I think we can all empathise, it makes no difference whether we have large or small dogs, none of us would ever want to find ourselves in your situation.
Hopefully you all come out of it well with no lasting trauma, sounds like you're very much on the right track x

That was sort of my thinking. Just report it to the police and let them pursue the matter. What happened was a criminal offence which would, I think, make it police matter not a civil matter.
