Help identify this dog please

Hiya, long time no speak....no internet

Anyway....i would love some help to see if anyone can help me identify a breed I've fallen in love with.

I have seen him twice now but not been possible to stop and ask.

Basically he looks kinda like a Basset in that he is quite long, he had long ears too, but his coat is wirey,(this chap is grey and white) he doesn't have as big a paws and he is higher off the ground. He has a real howl too, really deep.

It is possible he is a cross breed but i thought i'd ask you knowledgeable folk to see if you have any ideas.

No piccie?

At a guess perhaps he's that French breed, the Fauve de Bretagne I think they are called.
