Oh dear poor little pinto I have heard of dogs breaking their teeth on bones before but have no experience of it with my own dogs, that is very expensive why does he need gum surgery if the other vet already sorted the break?

Is there some tooth still left in?

I only ask as my old boy broke both his bottom canine teeth and the vet removed them. That was the end of it

Hello Rebecca one of my dogs lost a bottom tooth, the only slight problem there may be with a lost tooth is the surrounding teeth can move slightly to fill the gap.
I have known some old dogs who eat quite happily with very few teeth at all.
I am sure your little dog will be fine once root is removed...

I am guessing the tooth has broken off exposing the nerve meaning it could be painful so it is best to remove the root.

Maybe the tooth broke off at the gum line and the root has to be surgically removed?

Poor little Pinto, but if that is the case then the vet is, IMO, vastly over-charging.

Poor Pinto - hope the surgery goes well and he is fully recovered in as short a time as possible. No advice to offer as I have no experience of this type of problem.
Good luck.

I have no advice but I just wanted to send good vibes for Pinto.

What I don't understand though, is why would the e-vet not fix the problem entirely?
