Virgin versus SKY?

We are thinking of changing from SKY to Virgin Media. We have been offered a great package and have been having internet problems with Sky.We will have the TV/Broadband combination.

I am particularly interested in customer service experience and repair/maintenance....I notice that after warrantee Sky is £65 a visit and Virgin continues to provide repair etc...

I am also after experiences on broadband performance etc....

Thanks in advance.

We have had Virgin for years and not really had any big problems with them. Any repairs are usually done within a day or two at a time that suits me.

Broadband is great if its the cable broadband you are looking at. We have multiple pcs, ps3, xbox and phones etc and it all runs well with no complaints about the speed.

This is a test run this morning and its usually the same whatever time of day I test it at.

we were on virgin until we moved houses, and never had any problems with it. if we did need to call them out, they were normally out the next day to sort it out. i would have happily stayed with them but they don't provide service in the area that i live now

Avoid virmin adsl like the plague, the service it utter rubbish, if you take a look at their forums you'll see hundreds of complaints about em, I left virmin last year due to speeds so slow I could die of old age waiting! I hear the sky as also fairly bad but never used their bb so not sure for certain.

I'm using talktalk for bb and so far I've had zero problems with them, virmin adsl was .89mb download talktalk is 13.89mb dowload on the same line! if your going cable with virmin they are better! but the adsl just avoid!!

I would avoid their broadband through telephone line (ADSL) too, but their broadband through cable is meant to be really good - Carole's speeds are excellent!

Here are my speeds with Sky:

If Virgin (cable) was available around here, I'd probably get it

I was with sky for ages, they are pretty rubbish when things go wrong. Virgin broadband through cable is excellent. Not had any BB problems so cannot comment on that (which is good) but had one virgin tv box problem, they came the following day and replaced no issue.

I cannot get Virgin here, so I'm stuck with Sky, but I would definitely prefer Virgin, Sky's customer service is a joke
