Nought Stranger Than Folk

Took the gang to the big park this morning, it's further away but I took them there today for a few reasons really. Firstly we have to cross two main roads, load of heavy traffic, lorries, buses car's etc., and I think it good training for them, also reminds them of '''thier green cross code''' plus they are all on leads obviously by such heavy traffic so abit of training there too and it's a park where there are not many dogs but kids cross it to get to school, so they get plenty of patting and stroking from children...which keeps them well socialised with kids. Anyway into the park we go, off all three run, chasing each other round some ball throwing & abit of thats my ball, between Bruce and Skye going on
A few children came over...Bruce was delighted to see them, and the kids were asking loads of questions about them when suddenly a young Mom came walking through with two small girls playing with a BC puppy....I didn't make a bee line over (I managed to resist) but as I was walking across our paths (just happened) to cross I gave a warm smile and asked 'How old is she' the reply 'Just coming up to 4 months'. Bruce and Skye ran across to the puppy and very delighted to see her when Mom said ' Abbie grab her collar please', thinking that she was concerned that mine would do some damage to the pup I said 'They are fine, very friendly'...the reply I got was 'We don't want her mixing with other dogs, we only want her to play with the kids'
I called mine to come 'close' and walked away, as we are coming out of the park a elderly lady asked if her little grand-daughter could look at the dogs as she was petrified of dogs....naturally I was delighted to oblige and after a little soft talking from both Gran and me, we managed to get her to stroke Reah (thought Reah the best one as she is so calm and won't jump up) when another lady turns into the entrance spots the dogs and shouts to her two children........'RUN QUICK...BEFORE THEY GET YA'.two children screaming, running around like mad things, flapping thier arms into the air (what a stupid woman ) fortunately the dogs just stared at them...............think I'll stick to the smaller park tomorrow, to much stress with folk.

Are you sure you were still on this planet and not in the Twilight Zone? I think I'd have been terrified of the people there rather than the people there being afraid of my dog.

How strange is that park? Then again, I took Jamie into town when he was about 6/7mths old to socialise him and had a pair of mothers openly staring at him and telling their kids to 'not look at the bad doggy' Oooh some people!!

We have a strange combination here....the smaller park, where they get thier nightly run...very dog friendly.

The large park, where they can get loads of exercise.....NOT dog friendly/and those dogs that do go there are not sociable

Babbs Mill..........very dog friendly

Sutton park.......Very dogs friendly

Pype Hayes....can be dog friendly (mornings walk...unsocialised dogs) evening walk very doggy friendly

Lickey Hills........MIXED BUNCH

So there you go...................BEAM ME UP SCOTTIE
