How long do colds last :(

It started with a sore throat on monday, and turned into a really sore throat and swollen glands on tuesday, wednesday it got worse and attack of runny nose/ blocked nose came on.
Last night I could hardly sleep because my head was pounding and I couldnt breath through my nose
Today I got up and felt so very dizzy, still with horrible sore throat, glands and thumping head, and a feeling of being very wobbly...

When will it stop :'(

I had all of that 2 weeks ago, especially the thumping head and I'm not a headache type of person, it was a really awful cold, so you have my sympathy. Mine went on my chest after about a week and there it's stayed, but I now feel fine in myself, except that I'm wheezing and coughing a lot.

If you've got the one everybody seems to have at the moment, this one usually lasts abouts 10 days, and I'm sorry to say, just when you think it's gone after a week, back it comes! I've had some colds go on for weeks, but not this one, hopefully, you'll be the same.

I rarely get them thank goodness, but the worst is usually over within a week and then i say another week to get back to normal.
Hope you feel better soon.

The old adage is three days coming, three days there and three days going which is pretty accurate and helps greatly.

Does not cater for secondary infections though of course.

Depends on wether or not the virus strain is one your imune system has encountered before. If it is there will be a quicker imune response as the body doesn't have to manufacture new antibodies to deal with it, it just has to multiply the ones it has. I've been told it could take up to two or three weeks otherwise for your imune system to deal with it completely.
