What tree is this off

Does anybody know what tree produce flowers like this? It's a huge tree & the buds seem to explode into these cotton wool type stuff. It fascinated me for years. The flowers tend to drop off all over the floor so it looks like snow under the tree.

They're seed tufts.

Some Willow trees do it but almost certainly a Poplar Tree of sorts.

Look up female 'Black Poplar' ('Cotton Tree' or 'Downy Poplar') The 'White Poplar' has cotton wool too.

Have you a picture of the actual tree ?

Brilliant Thanks Phil I knew someone on here would know. I'll try to get a decent photo of the tree when I go out.
