I have met many people over the last few years that work in the public sector and the ''brag'' about how little they do and their wages. Some actually take three-four weeks off sick as the norm.

wages./benefits and pensions are very very good and most only work mon to fri.

Cushy little number I would say.

Teachers... take four weeks annual leave a year and work 8 til 6 like the rest of us.

Public sector workers don't know they are born.....wait till they get a job in the real world that will sort them out and they will realise how lucky they were

I am a public sector worker.

My job was created as an efficiency drive within the council. (we basically as a team do more work and make it mroe efficient meaning less people in local office)

What angers me is that people seem to think County Council staff have it easy! As If!!!

We have a decent pension yes, but my husband at Virgin Trains has better!
I am on about £3-4k less than private sector for an equivalent job.

I work approx 40hours a week (and no - this does not include lunch times - they are unpaid)

We have only just had annual leave increased from 20-25 days - I had more in the private sector!

We get an unbeleivable amount of Sh*t thrown at us just becaue we are council staff.

Public sector workers often do jobs no one else really wants to do....Bin men, social workers (on trust me that is a hard stressful job!) Road Gritters etc etc etc

But even though its the banks that caused this mess and MY TAX bailed them out i may suffer a job loss...

What angers me even more is that it will be us on band 1-6 that will suffer all the cheif execs who are on WWAAAAYYYYY too much money wont suffer as its them that will decide where in the council the efficiences will come from. They wont oust their own job! which is what is needed!

They have no idea! they arent in the offices everyday...we could, ourselves highlight so much waste but when its brought up they pooh pooh it as, god forbid it may actually affect a cheif exec!

Its so frustrating...

Then to top it all off after we work hard and get shafted on daily by our Government employer...we get to have hostility and almost literal cheering when public sector cuts are announced!

& your employer is breaking the law by not paying you SSP(Statutory Sick Pay)

When was the last time someone doing your job was raped & murdered ? Stabbed/shot/blown up verbally or physically attacked ??

Don't live in the real world , sorry it's you that doesn't live in the real world. When one of the above has happened to someone doing your job then you will be living in the real world.

As for MPs numbers being cut just like under Maggie-it will only be in the non Tory areas that more people will have to vote for an MP to get one elected. 99 % of the largest constituencies are non Tory & have no fear the way that the changes will be made will ensure that the Tories benefit.

What about proportional representation the centre of the LibDem policies-would the Tories bring it in ? Not over their very dead bodies sadly !

I earn £2 under the ssp limit...i get nothing.


and yes one of our managers was murdered last year in a robbery that went wrong.

My sons teacher does not teach for one day a week to do planning and marking!

As mentioned before my Husband was a teacher for 12 years then a head teacher before leaving the job because our marriage was on the rocks and he was ill. Due to pressures of the job.

His holidays consisted of at least two weeks preparing for the next term the paperwork was crippling.

He would leave the house at 7am he only worked up the road then and so would be in work by 7.15 am. He was lucky if he got a lunch break he was usually sorting an abusive child out or parent or sometimes both. He would then remain at school for meetings or come home have his tea and return to school meetings sometimes till 8pm even later. If not in school at meetings he would be up doing paperwork most nights till midnight. Teachers do not have an easy life or anymore holiday than anyone else its just that they get to work from home during their much needed break. But home or not its still work. Their pay is worked out annually and they do not get paid overtime.

You have to be one or have lived with one to fully understand the pressures of the job.

I find your comments extremely offensive in the light of things about the public sector workers and I feel you need to have a little sympathy over the things that are happening. I hope it doesn't happen to you not sure if I will be able to find sympathy for you if it does sorry if that remark offends but I am extremely offended by your remarks this is all very close to home for me and is affecting us now and you are again tarring all public sectors with the same brush there are good and bad in all walks of life and whatever you do for a living there will be those who take advantage.

Well she is very lucky then. Not all are that lucky.

I only have comments for what I know and my sons teacher as the rest of the school its lights out at 3.30pm and no one is there.
