Treating Diarrhea With Probiotics?

Hey everyone!

I just joined the forum so if I am posting in the wrong section, I sincerely do apologize.

I have a Siberian Husky named Rocky (hence my username) who recently got treated for a stomach infection with antibiotics prescribed by our veterinarian.

Thankfully he recovered but his poop has not been the same since. It's not exactly diarrhea but it is not the same as it used to be before he got the stomach infection. I called our veterinarian but he does not seem alarmed at all.

I generally trust him but on this issue, I feel like something is off. I wonder if something in his stomach changed.

Anyhow, after doing extensive research, I am considering giving Rocky some probiotics after this site recommended it.

But I rather hear it from others. Have you had the same issue after giving your dog(s) antibiotics?

It's a well known issue after taking antibiotics, they kill the good bugs along with the bad so yeah probiotics are a good idea.

How long ago did he stop taking the anti biotics?

They sometimes leave them with 'soft' stools for a couple of weeks afterwards. I doubt probiotics will do an harm

I stopped giving Rocky antibiotics a little less than 2 weeks ago.

I give my doglet something called dia halt. You can give it all the time. You can get it online from viovet.

Both my dogs are given a dollop of Kefir on top of their evening meal. When I was in the UK, I bought it from the Polish food section in Asda.

I keep Diar-Stop and Pro-Kolin in the cupboard. I don't use it routinely, but will give it at the first sign of a dodgy tum.

Prokolin is the one I couldn't remember the name of. Diahalt is cheaper but just as good and easier on the stomach. What is in the dia stop?

Raw green tripe should contains probiotics too - and dogs usually love it

You could also try sauerkraut, cabbage rejevulac, etc

Probably the same as Diarhalt?
