Obama family 'picks first puppy'

The soon-to-be "first puppy" is a six-month-old black-and-white Portuguese water dog that the Obama girls have named Bo, the Washington Post reports.

They said young Bo - who sports a white chest, white paws and a white goatee - was a gift to the Obama daughters from close family friend, Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

...so they didn't go for a rescue dog after all.

To be honest I don't care that it wasn't a rescue just glad it wasn't a doodle as that would have given more credence to breeders to churn out more of them!
I dread to think what would have happened if they had

I read it was a pup that was returned to the breeder, so technically is a rescue of sorts?
