Here are more of her night time gang but taken in daylight! This one's Mara - lives next door to us - when Bella was a tiny pup Mara used to boss her about and knock her flying and now ... they are bestest pals!

The dog behind Mara is the one I've mentioned as having that 'ridge' down its back.

Kaiser the boy minpin - he's recently moved away. And a Charlie CKCS (but the biggest one I've ever seen!)

Mara, Roberta, Adam (the white playboy) and Eve (his first wife lol!)

Bella kisses Mara all the time and Mara is always throwing a paw round Bella's neck

Doggy meet up by the beach (not ON the beach - not allowed) but one big bar down there allowed us to take our dogs inside. All sorts of dogs turn up for these gatherings - to try to force the govt to provide some dog beaches.

Thanks Dawn. I think you could count the 'pedigree' dogs on fingers of one hand (I have my doubts about Bella's lol!) they really are all shapes and sizes a right old Heinz variety of dogs. A lot of the owners don't have a clue what sort of dogs they own (but don't seem to care either!)

It's a real joy to see them all rubbing along nicely and sort of milling around and sniffing each other and lighting up when they see one of their 'best mates' turn up! Mainly bitches - occasionally if only one male dog is there with the girls he will get a bit 'arsy' if another male turns up but it doesn't last long they have a bit of a 'bark off' and then forget it. The little ones run around under the bellies of the big ones. Some bound around in the field while others potter or spectate and some just flop out on the sandy soil.

My 5yrs long campaign to try to get them to use LEADS or at least have one with them seems to be paying off. Very few now don't have a lead even if their lead is just trailing along the dirt behind them! I don't think I will live long enough to convince them to pick up dog **** though lol!

I just love to see loads of dogs together like that - all shapes and sizes - no snobbery in the doggy world!

If they were allowed on the beaches, it would definitely be a dogs' paradise there!

Yes but only for those who can get to it. A lot of these people don't have cars. This is why my FAVOURITE spot (apart from hottest months) is the Salt Lake at the other end of my road - we have it to ourselves almost every time we go down there and Bella loves that too (lizards to chase) totally different 'walk experience' to the popular spot. The place in these photos is a spit away from my apartment. I can see who is heading there from my windows and see my apartment while I am down there. And, at the end of that path is our 365 days a year open all hours shop (Danny's Minimarket) so sometimes combined with nipping into there before heading back.

Then we have the huge Aliki Park above the lake. Also never very busy - she has a different set of regular mates there. As soon as this suffocating heatwave subsides we will be going to the lake and the park again - usually alternating with the local spot.

Today we did the waterfront (just as close) to see how they are getting on with the 'refurbishments' I thought at one stage we wouldn't get out of them! So Bella is now qualified to roam over building sites too!

Absolutely! And from 5 months to over 15 yrs old (owners range from twenties to seventies!) and even those of them that look as if they need a good bath and a brush still get greeted and treated the same by the other dogs and the other owners! You soon get to know the different characters of this mottley assortment of dawgs.

If I had to pick one characteristic that almost all the owners share in common it would be that they are very LAID BACK and the same thing seems to apply to the dogs too!
