Some of Bella's night time 'gang'

Excuse quality of photos. One it was very dark (only the light of my flash) and two one of the dogs was trying to eat my phone every time the flash went off so I was hopping and diving about a bit! I think he thought I had a gun!

That's her little brown bum in the background!

Mummy Julie in the foreground and her 3 pups (Daddy Adam is off somewhere - the gigolo of Makenzy he is probably responsible for half the pom/cyp poodle crosses in Larnaca. Bella's been pals with Mum and Dad since I first got her.

The dog that tried to eat my phone. Rescued from the streets by its lady owner it only likes its owner and no one else! She smacked it for lunging at me. I told her not to as it was probly the flash that startled it. It's just a VERY nervous dog. And who knows what experiences it had of humans before she took it in.

Wish I'd got this one in the frame properly. Lovely French bulldog - brought over from Bulgaria by its owner.

And the newbie to the gang - Akita cross (well that's what they said and it did have an Akita tail) but I couldn't get a very good piccie of it - it was a very striking looking dog. Bella looks very peculiar here taking up a sort of 'crouching down' stance, but considering the size of Rocky and she's never met him before and he is only 5 months old and VERY boisterous she was determined to meet and greet him (she is either very brave or very stupid and I haven't quite decided which yet!)

Rocky's head is just a blur in this one!

And another dog we sometimes see when out. I couldn't get them all in photos tonight because some of the owners sat further up. It's the long field path and we usually stop halfway and sit on the waterway wall for a ciggie and a natter before continuing or heading back.

And Bella is now flaked out on my (her) new bed having had a good hour spent with her 'mates'. Here she is!

Bella has quite a social life by the look of it!

And so do you owners - stopping halfway for a fag and a gossip. Too chilly here at the moment to hang around for long.

Oh yes and they often get the beers out too lol! I usually take ice cold canned coffee and water with me on the earlier walks.

Maybe I should open a little bar down there?

Hot soup and a brazier would be nice round here today - very nippy!

How long does your good weather go on for?

Well usually only rains between Nov and about Feb. But has been very unpredictable in recent years. We don't really have an autumn or spring. It's long, long summer and then short winter.

Some years we are outside eating in the sunshine on xmas day other years we are suffering floods and storms from end Oct!

Yes we are quite lucky a right old mottley assortment of all sorts of dogs here and hardly any of them properly 'trained'. Bella attracts tons of admiration as she walks so nicely and always 'comes away' with me when I call her 'thisway' and doesn't run off out of sight or anything.

There are loads of other locals too - we met Mara (next door's dog) on the way back home. Then there's the English Bull Terrier (saw him this morning) a couple of big old labs too. And amazingly about 99% of these dogs all just rub along together nicely. Most of them rescued from the streets. We all know who the problem dogs in the area are and all warn each other when out if we see anyone heading towards where one of them are. Considering the huge number of dogs here it's surprising really that there are only a couple who it's best to avoid.

And the owners are like a delegation from the league of nations too! I'm the only Brit but we have a few Cypriots, (lots of Romanians), Polish, Phillipino and Bulgarian and a couple of Greeks too. None of us very multi lingual but we manage with a smattering of Greeklish!

All the people here and the others we see regularly have one thing in common - they love their dogs (and they all like all the other dogs too and make a fuss of them). Even if their methods of caring for them and or training them vary enormously. And to me it goes to show that there isn't one right way of doing anything. If it suits you and it suits your dog - that's good enough.

All very laid back really, the area is approached from about 4 separate directions and we all always end up somewhere in the middle of this long path and all stop there and just mill around and take a break and moan about the humidity lol!

*of course the one BIG thing we ALL have in common is that we ALL take our dogs out at least once a day for a good walk and a runabout. That's probably why we all get on so easily. We only meet the people who do bother to walk their dogs. We don't see the owners of the poor dogs who are kept cooped up in their yards all day and night. They are the dogs who never stop barking.
