Me and Whichpets nearly had heart failure today in Richmond Park when we saw a Labrador run out onto Penn Ponds where the ice was obviously very thin and clearly signed as such thankfully it didn't fall through and ran off of the ice.
on a lighter note I wonder if it was Fenton the labrador !!!!

I wouldn't be hopping in Dorney Lake. It's 3m deep . I'd have hopped into the canal. Bum Level.

There were PEOPLE never mind dogs on the Ice at Virginia Water yesterday. Fortunately nearish the edge.

Given the snow was melting at a rate you'd think it'd occur that the Ice was doing the same.

I would like to say I would be calm enough to wait and see if my dogs got out by themselves, but I probably wouldnt be.

A few years ago I witnessed a young flatcoat get a bit over confident in freezing waters, fast flowing water, its first attempt at swimming and it just couldnt, his owner stripped off and swam out to him, watching the panicked dog almost drown his owner he then made his own way to the bank. His owner definitely ended up in a worse state than the dog, though I do understand why the owner went in (the dog had no control over his legs and was continually going under).
