Dogsey

Our first family dog was barking. Mad, that is. Clover was a Springer SpanielxBorder Collie who was with us for 14 years - a crackling ball of mental energy until the end. She also started a trend of naming pet dogs after anything green that grows in a garden. Enter Herbie. HERB-ie (har har) :) We adopted Herb, a West Highland White Terrier, from the NCDL in 2002. Fortunately he also turned out to be mad, albeit in far quieter fashion. Herbie was an ex-stud dog from a puppy farm and in a very sorry state - the little chap to learn to live indoors, accept affection, climb stairs, and not widdle on the cream carpet. Herbie was, simply put, a treasure; one that we'll never forget, and the reason why we adopted another ex-breeding puppy farm dog after he passed in 2006. Say hello to Poppy! A brighter, bouncier lass you'll never meet. Honestly. One look at her boot-button eyes and you'd be head-o'er-tails too. Two years into Poppy's tenure we adopted Daisy, our third Westie, from the same shelter. We enjoyed a very short and sweet 3 months with Daisy before she faded and passed away from a serious neurological ailment. Hearts a little bruised, we waited over a year to adopt our newest arrival. Her name is Rosie, and she's very shy and over-attached to yours truly. At the time of me tippy-tapping this, it's been less than a week since we collected her from the shelter; very early days, and we're all hoping she'll be as bright bouncey as Poppy when she's ready. A bit about me; I've just left long-term emloyment through redundancy, which has given me the kick up the bum to do somthing I really want; a HND in Animal Studies. And that's my tail. Sorry; tale!
