Re: Minature Labradoodles?

Yes I have seen them advertised as miniature labradoodles when the sire is a miniature poodle rather than a standard .
I think they started to breed them smaller as the standard crosses are so big .

Re: Minature Labradoodles?

Someone will have bought those pups believing they have a designer pedigree . Sorry, I just don't agree with breeding for financial gain only and there's no other reason for breeding these crosses IMO.

I don't get why people who have poodle crosses and the like do the old 'he doesn't moult' thing. There are plenty of non shedding breeds to choose from already, and surely mixing a non shedding breed (poodle) with a shedding breed (lab) could result in the pups that DO shed hair. All this designer cross breeding gets on my t*ts.

I would just like to add I don't agree with breeding them either . I own a poodle and I have no idea what you could possibly gain by crossing them ( apart from loads of money )
Some of these labradoodles are born with straight hair and nobody wants them .

Re: Minature Labradoodles?

I am not a fan of the designer crosses...especially at that price

However....I have someone who specifically went looking for a straight haired one....not quite sure why, however, she has now trained it up to be her own assistance dog (she has Spina bifta (sp?)) I have to say it is a fantastic dog (everyone thinks its a Saluki X!) She didn't want a poodle as she would not have coped with the grooming.
There are a lot of them around doing very well so they obviously fill a niche...(Although I am sure there are other breeds that would work)

Was just thinking I know one too and then realised it's the same one I thought she was a Saluki x the first time I saw her too

It's good to know someone wants a straight haired labradoodle and that they don't all end up in rescue

Thanks everyone else on your input xxxxx
Nope, just this one for now

I thought it was common knowledge about the sizes in all these crossbreed types, obviously its not that widely known at all.

Re: Minature Labradoodles?

I meet a small "labradoodle" at the park, it's about the size of a working cocker, quite hairy.
