Re: NI situation getting worse.

honestly if you have 2 members bickering like this re the ni's or any other breed, then none of them in my eyes are putting their breed 1st.
everyone has a right to debate etc but i do feel the board is used as a way of having a go at other members.
i thought all this kinda thing was supposed to be taken to pms and kept of the board.

if you came on to the site to read about a breed of dog and found this kind of comment esp the statement about the pedigree of the dogs being changed would make me wary of the breed and if the breeders are in fact telling you the truth.
if they have evidence to back up the claims stated in their posts they should deal with it not splatter it all over the board, 1 its not a good way to introduce their breed to strangers.
2 its not a nice way to view the board, or possibly be viewed by newbies.
3 some of the comments could turn a liable case, and the board get dragged into it.

on the whole i really dont think any one or the ni as breed wins, its negative all the way round, no good can come out of it.

but its up to you at the end of the day azz.

Re: NI situation getting worse.

I personally find this a huge shame, as I like these dogs
They were at one point possibly a dog I would consider as a future pet but with so much conflict it does put you off. I own 'alternative' breeds, have done for a while and whilst people among the circles I have mixed in have bickered in the past - they do find a way of coming together for the dogs, and thats what it should be all about. Not about having a pop at one another, whose done what, who has what etc, it should always be about the dogs and not peoples ego's or problems with one another - how are the dogs supposed to move forward with so much conflict? If this is the way it is going to always be, not much point in having and breeding these dogs

I'm sorry Azz but I wouldn't get embroiled in the ins and outs..if self moderation has failed I would delete accounts..end of, as I fail to see how it helps to educate or do the breed any favours. Sorry.

Re: NI situation getting worse.

good way of putting it...plus i am glad im not the only 1 to reply......... (thought i might smell for a while then)

it is great the board is used for ppl to gain info on breeds of dogs they dont know about, and the board is supposed to be friendly etc which is 1 of the things that makes this board different to all the rest.

it is a shame ppl see the chance of having a go and not considering how others view it and how it then could reflect on the breed.

Personally I would warm them against such things and if they persisted, consider suspending them for using this forum for a set period of time, say 1 month.

That may sound harsh but everyone on here knows what the rules are and what is expected of them concerning certain comments. So if they can't abide by them then they shouldn't be allowed to use the forum. It's as simple as that.

As a NI owner I think thats the saddest part. I've been to the NIS shows and they really are great people and great dogs. I don't know much about TIDA but it seems that is having trouble, but who knows? I find it quite confusing as to who is who as people seem to change identities etc, and this just makes it all the more suspicious.

All I know is I have a lovely NI and all this bickering is not going to do the breed any good, and it's a damn shame.

Re: NI situation getting worse.

I don't own NIs but as said previously, I live very close to 2 breeders of them.

By deleting accounts of these people, there is then the risk of people of any breed getting away with murder and doing as they please, which is detrimental to the breed itself.

By people speaking up, I personally think, they DO in fact care about their breed, enough to report an injustice, rather than say nothing as it does not directly affect them (brush under the carpet syndrome) !

Why should people not report abuse of the Pedigree/registration system, whether it be the NIS, TIDA, the KC or DLR ?

If more people spoke up about indiscriminate behaviour in their breeding establishments, I feel more people would be put to shame and made to think about their actions and would then be exposed to new people to the breed.

The general public read these kinds of forums, and if they are looking for a new breed, why shouldn;t they be totally informed about the 'bad' and the Good' ???

It IS knowledge to expose injustice. It's knowledge to a new owner about where NOT to go for a puppy.

As for personal statements, these should be stopped and the people concerned warned IMO. I think if they had proof, that's a different matter.

Sorry for the ramblings, I just think that the more bad breeders that are exposed, of any breed, the less availability there is for new owners of their puppies, as people will inevitably wise up when informed of their breeding practices.

As for 'bickering', maybe you should introduce a 'Playground' section

Re: NI situation getting worse.

I've made my feelings perfectly clear to anyone that will listen about all the bickering over N.I's. My interest is in the breed, and that's it. I'm tired of reading threads that more often than not ends up being locked.

While I'm all for reporting any injustices, I think that if this breed is EVER to get KC recognition, the bickering and back biting needs to stop. How are we meant to inform and educate people about this stunning breed when all everyone wants to do is squabble
