Re: northern inuits

Did you not get a feeding guide from the breeder. We got a diet sheet when we got out pup. If you are feeding dry complete food it will tell you how much to give also on the pack.

Re: northern inuits

hi mark,
you dont say how old your N.i is. if its a puppy, he/sge should be fed at least 3 times a day, did you get a puppy pack from the breeder?, the guidelines on those are usually quite good. if its an adult, mine get fed twicce a day, lamb ribs or a chicken carcass for breakfast and a mug full off complete meal in the evening, maybe a beef bone as a treat midday. adults arent supposed to be broad lol, but i have seen a lot of fat N.I's. pups shouldnt be too fat either but not ribby

Re: northern inuits

My 9month old NI gets fed twice a day, about an hour after she gets up and in the evening.

She gets fed meat (steak, pork, lamb, chicken...) mixed in with JWB, she is not a greedy dog and will only eat when she is hungry and is quite fussy too.

Each dog is individual though and will need a different diet and amounts, maybe you should speak to your breeder and consult him/her on the matter.

Re: northern inuits

I would say it depends on the size of your dog. NI's vary greatly in size, the samller end of the scale (say 25/26") slim/standard built dog would obviously not need as much as a 32" slim/standard build dog yet a big/heavy built (big boned) 26" dog could easily need as much as a 32" slim built dog.

With every dog its trial and error as to what suits your individual dog.

My dog & my bitch are not far off each other in the height stakes & are both slim build yet my bitch is just right on 1lb of meat a day my male is under weight on 3lb & is now on 4lb a day.

Don't forget the amount of treats/tit bits you give will also influence the amount of food a dog needs.
