Scraping his skin off his ankles

We’ve just adopted Leo, a 16 month old GSD/goldie boy from Guide Dogs. He’s wonderful in every way but was withdrawn from training due to skin allergies.
Just before coming to us, he was boarded for a while and it seems that he had so much fun chasing balls etc that he has scraped the skin on the backs of his ankles (if that’s the right word!). He has a small raw bit on each ankle about the size of a 5p piece. The vet has prescribed antibiotics & anti-inflammatory meds to help things along, but I wonder if there’s anything else we can do to heal them up & let him get on with his life of bouncing around?
