Places to see

Based on Griffs parents upcoming cruise I just wondered where in the World anywhere you want to see or would want to revist..............dream trips and imagination allowed.

I hope Griff's parents enjoy the cruise immensely.

I'm not sure if lucky is quite the right word - but I'll use it anyway.

I've been lucky enough to have travelled quite a bit with work.
And some on holiday. Maybe I should write a book.....

But I'll give just a couple of experiences that I'd like to revisit.

The Sahara Desert. I was on an oilfield in Libya. The vast emptiness is hard to explain. It gets to you. Perhaps makes you realise how insignificant you are in the great scheme of things.

South Africa. Again, the sheer size. I drove from Johannesburg to Cape town - about 1,000 miles. A lot of it is scrub and you can drive for miles and not see a soul or any evidence of habitation. Then see a mother and child walking across the empty land seemingly going from nowhere to nowhere.

Both of those are off the agenda now of course and in any case I'm sort of retired.

Maybe Marrakech again.

'evening Besoeker - I did some contracts in Libya, one for the Police communications while the king was still head of state, and latter for Occidental Oil after Ghadafi took control. There's a little town called Sebha in the South that we drove to, as you say the vast areas of nothing but sand dunes and rocks is hard to imagine if you've not been there.

Evening Losos.
Trust that you are well.
I hadn't heard of Sebha but I don't suppose many have. It may have grown some since you were there - population is about 100,000.

And very hot in the summer - as I got older I've found that less easy to tolerate. I've been where it never went above -20C. That's not comfortable either.
