Heart murmur in my puppy.

hi any info would be greatful.Took my 8 weeks old staffy pup for his first jab today. My vet gave him a check over as they do.To tell me my pup has a slight heart murmur.Panic set in as i bred this litter myself. He told me not to panic as it is very common in young pups.An 90% of pups as they grow the murmur usually disappears. It's still a worry.I,ve contacted the owners of the rest of the litter mates and their all fine.Anyone else experienced this in a puppy.Thanks.

Hi Jane

Have a look some of our other threads on Heart Murmurs: Search Results

The first thing I'd do in any health ailment is feed my dog a good healthy species appropriate diet - the amount of crap in dog food these days is worrying and imo related to many diseases. Here's a quick guide: http://www.dogsy.com/dog-food.htm

I've heard of a few pups with heart murmurs, one I knew of was very bad with it but went to a good home and as far as I know is still going strong. But yes, most do seem to fade as they get older.
Did the vet tell you how bad it was, or any tests to do, or just to wait and keep checking in?
In regards to your puppy I would just continue to raise it as I would with any other pup, good diet, play, training and socialisation.
