I thought as much..........Now I'm worried. I knew my nephew was getting a puppy & he's got it now & was just talking about it on social network & saying it's half staff half pit bull. I've only commented saying OMG are you kidding & don't want to interfere really. They live up North so I'm only in contact via the internet, though I could speak to his mum (my sis in law) he's 22 yrs old & lives with his girlfriend - the most worrying bit is that they have a toddler & a 3 month old baby! |

Yes it is ilegal and like already said anything that looks like a pitbull can be seized Another thing though, just because the dog could be a cross between a pitbull it does not mean that the dog is going to be aggressive towards them or there child.. No dog should be left around children, and as long as the dog is brought up with the correct training and socalisation, i wouldnt have thought them to have a problem..although with a dog of this cross i think a lot of work will have to go into training and socalising the said dog. |

Maybe it is just as staff, but alot of breeders want to breed pitbull crosses or pass there staff cross what ever off as pitbulls. I havent a clue why, but its something that has been happening for a while. I would tell him to be a little bit careful who he tells that its a pitbull cross 'if it is' well even if it isnt..Just takes one person to report him and the dog and say the dog scares them and he can have the dog taken |

I think it's that old "status" symbol thing. and he's just commented on the biggest social network site in the world me thinks! was just looking at the pics again of it with it's mother, can only see the mother's legs though & I think around 4 or 5 pups which are brindle & 1 beige. He grew up with 2 dogs so I imagine he is experienced with them. can't help but worry though about the kids! |

Thing is..... he might be bragging it's a PB cross when in fact it isn't. However, if someone believed him & reported it, and the dog was seized, even if he has 'papers', sworn affidavits, even DNA tests to prove it had no PB at all in it - if it looks the part, then he's got trouble coming. So just warn him to keep quiet if it is, and keep quiet if it isn't! Getting a seized dog back under the Exemption laws seems very expensive and takes a long time, with fiddly paperwork. Just one thing wrong, or the time limit expiring, means the dog would be PTS anyway. He might be under the illusion that he could get it back this way, without knowing the pitfalls and cost involved. |

you should only worry about the child if you dont think your relative can properly train and socialise the dog. Niether breed mentioned is naturally agressive toward humans. |
