My dog has bit through her own tongue, what can i do?

We noticed this the other day, unsure whether its related to the dog that bit her the other day

She doesnt seem in pain. Drinking and eating fine. No crying. She's got a chunk of her tongue hanging off. Will it heal over or does she need vet attention?

I`d get advice from a vet. It may need attention. I`d be surprised if your dog has done this to herself BTW.

I personally would leave it if it isn't causing any problems.

Their mouth is the best place for them to have a cut as it is super clean, so it shouldn't get infected as much as other areas...

Oh poor baby! From the pic it looks clean and not too sore, if you leave it be it may well be fine but will probably heal a funny shape although i'm not sure a vet would stitch a tongue into place as its not causing her any problems, think i'd still take her for a check if it were me. x

Hi Gadge , I would certainly get this checked by a vet. My main concern would be further damage if she catches it on something (I note she still has her baby teeth so will be doing lots of chewing while cutting her adult teeth ).

By the looks of it, it may need a bit of tidying up.

Good luck x
