Rough play

Scrump and ruby get on really well, its just there play can get really really rough resulting usually in one of them getting hurt, i like them to play but it always ends in tears, and ruby being a growing lab, i dont want her to tear around too much.
any ideas on how to get them to play, but not to go too mad, i dont want to punish them for playing!

Tammy and Jasper used to get too rough and one of them, usually Jasper , would get hurt. What I did was actually say 'Enough' in a strong stern voice if I thought things were starting to get too rough. They would then look at me as if to say 'soil sport' and then retreat to their bed.

It usually worked

That s prettymuch my choice too Staffy I say "Enough" too and they stop. With Tess still being a 24/7 playmonster she does not seem to know when to stop, althugh I have noticed over the last couple of weeks when one of them moves into the bed that stops the game it seems like they have made bed/food/water the living room/conservatory off limits to play and they just lie down there now.
There again saying that their play rarely ends in tears only the occasional s mine rarely squeak from the little 'en when she is frustrated by Sal's speed/size. I find a word is enough to settle them back down and regular time outs seem to diffuse sitations too. Especially now we give treats/dinner only when they are seperate - the biggest cause of disagreements I think now removed from the arena.
