Good Home Wanted....

I've just been down to our corner shop. I seen an add there for a wee Jack Russel called Patch.
One year old, good with kids, house trained, vaccinated, microchipped, etc etc, genuine reason for looking for new home.....

Do you believe them? I'm doubtful.
If he is so good, why get rid of him. At one year old I can't help but wonder if he was a Xmas present last year and the novelty has worn off. And why rehome so close to Xmas, where he might become an unwanted xmas gift.

I didn't have my mobile with me, so didn't get the number....
But I'm tempted to go back and get it to give them a call. I feel sorry for the wee thing. perhaps not rehome him, but to find out more. Or am I mad?

Lead me not into temptation....

I would ring up and enquire. It will put your mind at rest at least
I think most ads these days say "genuine reason for rehoming". Some people probably do have a good reason, other people might just put it down to attract people. You can't know whether it's true unless you ask

Ya never know, I took Frankie in at 20 weeks and he's a little darling. He was well cared for, clearly loved but they were having problems with the other dog being territorial etc. Personally I think it wasn't unresolvable but they were worried and felt it was better to let him go. One persons genuine reason may not always seem that great to others if you know what I mean, but I am happy to have him.

Ha ha Ian, don't tempt me!!

I'm going to head back down to get the number... to satisfy my noseyness if nothing else.
I was just chatting to other dog owners out on our walk today saying how Willow would love a full time companion. A small male would be good....

But so many other issues spring to mind about it all. Though I'm jumping ahead of myself here, I haven't even called yet!

I'll let you all know how I get on.

You two are a bad influence on me!!!

Got in contact with the owner.
She says that she needs to get him a new home because she has asthma and it's getting worse. Though during the conversation she said that the kids have lost interest in him as well.

He lives out during the day and comes in at night. He's fine being left alone during the day, can pull alittle on the lead.

She says he will bark at other dogs but is fine when he gets up to meet them. Though she didn't seem very sure on this point. It sounds to me like perhaps he doesn't get socialising with many other dogs, which could be a problem here with me having guide dogs coming and going.

He's in good health, vaccinated, wormed, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He's currently living with 2 kids, slightly younger than my own two.

I have arranged to call tomorrow morning to meet her and the dog (Patch). I asked if it was ok to bring Willow, she said yes no problem. Do you think it's a good idea to bring her with me, or should I wait and bring her again if I like the look of him. I will take him a walk to see how we get on.

Am I wise? Anything you lot think I should take into consideration here?

Are you wise... hmmm tough one

Do ya drive? Might be ok to bring Willow and leave her in the car till ya had a little time alone see how you feel about the dog? Then if all goes well you could maybe introduce em for a few mins take it from there?
