Chocolate Charlie

Charlie ate my son's 18th birthday cake last night
It was a lovely chocolate tray bake cake with 18 candles on it.
I set it out on the plate and went to get a match for the candles and when I came back, there was only a soggy mess with teeth marks and golden retriever hair in it, it was also minus 16 of the candles (we haven't found them yet!!)
We had to celebrate his birthday with 2 candles stuck in a swiss roll

I've bought a new cake and we are having a re-run for the photos tonight. The cake is up so high even I can't reach it!
Charlie has been a bit restless today, so we are just waiting on his coming down from his sugar rush.
Life is never dull with a dog is it?

I lived out in the country once and our nearest neighbour was an elderly lady. One day my dog disappeared for a few hours then returned to lie snoring on his bed. The lady came round later to tell us about some young scallywag who must have pinched her Sunday chicken which had been defrosting on her window-sill. We commiserated with her about modern youth, and kept a closer eye on the dog after that.

Watch him very carefully as chocolate is poisonous to dogs and any signs of vomiting then get to a vet immediately. Personally I would ring your vet for advice to see what they suggest.

Hope he doesn't suffer any ill effects though.

Charlie hasn't had any ill effects from the chocolate cake, I kept an eye on him (and to look for the missing candles!!) but he seems fine.
In fact I've yet to find anything that does upset him, he is a doggy dustbin.
My son thinks that even if he doesn't remember his presents for his 18th birthday he'll always remember the cake
