Supplements to help with joint stiffness?

Hi, our vet has recommended starting some supplements to help ward off joint stiffness for our black lab (who is nearly 9 and generally very healthy). She has suggested 1000 mg of glucosamine, 500 mg of chondroitin and 1 tsp of cod liver oil. She also mentioned that I can use the "human" forms of these, as the "animal" ones can be more expensive.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for what type to buy, and where from - shall I just pick up something suitable in Tescos, or a health food shop, or maybe get something dog-specific like "joint care" treats? Obviously I don't want to break the bank, but I want the best for my big softie.

I've been looking at the glucosamine in Costco and was about to post a thread I am thinking about buying these for Finn.

You can get these from Asda....they often do 3for2 offers....may be worth watching for these and stocking up.

Daisy had a longterm shoulder problem (vet tried various things) it just wasn't mending.....she went on this combination and has never had a problem since. These were Asda's own brand.

We give our dogs Megga Dog for overall health.
The balanced Omegas along with the vitamin E keep inflammation down, and antioxidants up.
The cause of joint deterioration is over use coupled with inflammation and free radicals.

Here is a link.

Tried & tested and used daily - excellent stuff. Our Boxer has arthritis in her left hip. Before she commenced it she was so stiff, couldn't get into the car, would often carry the leg and had a lot of diffs getting started first thing.

EBay's prices are quite competitive

I used to use Simply Supplements (online), but did pick some up at Tesco when the offers were on - they often have 3 for two offers
