If she wanted to attack him, she would have done so. He's a male, large, and she knows better. My last male and Jade were like this, as well. She did ONE time actually attack him with teeth, he showed her the way of it and it never happened again.

He was like Callie with bitches, he usually let them have their way. He'd also never severely hurt them. But he was tougher, larger, and more confident than Jade, and she knew it but that doesn't mean she had to like it.

My intervention was not needed. He knocked her over, and held her there with his weight. He barked and snarled in her face and would not let her move. He did not bite her even once and had no intentions of doing so. Nobody was hurt and it never had to happen again.

Now, I knew her and him really well... and knew that she was submissive of him, but just snarky. And I knew he'd never hurt a female.

Brownie, my last male would back down if Jade acted snarky or something. He'd go away, turn away, or otherwise let her win. He'd never confront her on anything aggressive. He'd never show any aggression towards her, even if she was passive-aggressive such as food guarding. He'd walk away.

Nigredo is not like that. When she pushes too far, he will stand up and puff out his chest and stare her down. If she growls at him, or makes an annoying noise or acts overly pushy, he does this. He makes no noise, but his position is very threatening. She will hold her ground to some degree, but her tail will tuck, ears fold back etc.

My fears are not that he will attack, because I know he won't... but that out of fear, she might attack and he will retaliate. She does not stand a chance against him, and despite his docile temperament... he's very strong when he wants to be and bites rather hard when he wants to.

That is the key IMO, if the male can be trusted 100%, usually the problems are minimal. Same as how a woman will rarely strike a man for no real reason for fear of him hitting back.

Don't feed the dogs together, either. Asking for trouble. Jade is very RG/FG with other dogs, and surely there would be a vicious fight if I fed them together at any time.
