Doggie resolutions...

well everyone has new year resolutions, and i just wondered how many of them revolve around your dogs.... all of mine do this year. has anyone else got any dog resolutions? and what are they?

mine are to walk daphni twice a day without fail (i have been slightly lazy in this department seein as the weather has been horrid )
my other is two brush her daily, again i have been forgetting recently

my othertwo are better ones though, one is to make a scrapbook of all daphnis photos and achievements so i will have something really good to remember her by when she is no longer here.
and my other is to write down everything i buy for her and how much it is so i can see how much she costs me in a year not sure if this is such a great idea and i may have a nervous breakdown at the end of it lol

Hmmm maybe you're right that one isn't such a good idea I have 2 that involve the dogs. One is to return both girls back to training and work on general obedience with Dizzy and work on socialising Molly. The other is to comb Molly more often too as she is really silly about being brushed so I let her get away with it more than I should but I am clamping down on her norty behaviour

I think they may also be involved in my quest to loose weight too whether they like it or not more walking for them

Something tells me Clo that you haven't got a husband otherwise you would not want a record of what you are spending on Daphni!

Neither Mo nor I have made any resolutions

not so much resolutions as plans. I want to get both my big guys hip scored and passported. I want Dan to be the first Estrela to get gold cgc award and for Rio to pass bronze. I also want to buy an affix and do a website for my kennel.

Hi,

Mine are based around the dogs too.

For me, I vow to get Buddy (or more like it, my) ringcraft skills up to scratch before Crufts. otherwise we'll both look like a couple of prize turkeys next to everyone else. At the moment, he is better at it than I am and I feel I'm actually holding him back. That's not good so it has to change.

Also, I'm going to start on the intensive training again with Zane. Not so much that he's overstimulated (like before) but enough so he reaches the standard to get into the obedience circuit. He's just 2 years old so over the next 12-24 months he should really come into his own.

My third and final resolution is to get all 4 dogs to have passed the gold KC good citizens. They've been assessed before and Zane already has gold but it can't hurt to do it again. If I'm not allowed to do it again with Zane I still need to get the others up to standard.

I've also promised myself (this is the easiest one to achieve) that the shop I should have opened back in September (fell through because there were problems with the structure of the building itself ) will be opened by 1st March at the latest.

Finally, although not a resolution, I have a goal of being able to take out/walk all the dogs together. I tend to only take 2 out at a time (or separately sometimes) as I only have 2 hands and if something happens involving more than 2 dogs, which 2 do I grab hold of??

Reading through it now it seems like a hell of a lot, but over 12 months I should be able to achieve this and I know the dogs can achieve whatever I ask of them. I have great faith in them - maybe a little too much??!

Laura xx
