rottweilers and docking

could someone please tell me the reason rottweilers tails are docked?

Up until last night, id never seen a rottie without a docked tail. On miami animal police there was this rottie with an elastic band round his tail, the owners were doin a home jobby at cutting it off. Anyway, they managed to save the tail, after alot of pain, and personally i think they look better with tails.

Please dont tell me its for the sake of standards?

i can understand dogs tails being docked if used for hunting, as people have said their tails can bleed otherwise.

But i dont think any dog looks better having parts of their body cut off. Especially if its for the sake of KC standards

I think that most breeders just customarily dock their tails, most breeders i do know dont leave the tails undocked unless stated by new owner(s) before pups have been born.

personally i wouldnt buy a dog with anythin docked or cut off.

do u think maybe u think rotties look better without tails because youve never seen one with one?

Perhaps ur too used to seeing them without.

For example... ive only ever seen one dobie without cropped ears.. i believe its murphy on here. And when i first saw him i thought it looked strange, but its natural. we shouldnt think it looks un natural for a dog to be as it is born
