Retrieve

I rue the day I taught Saffy retrieve, I actually thought it would be hard to train her to retrieve but she took to it like a duck to water, only thing is she wants to retrieve morning, noon and night. Shes constantly hitting me with her rubber ring so il take it off her and throw it. My arm hurts now.

Sue, will Saffy hand the ring over right away. Star likes to have a tug of war before she gives it up.

Jas has started retrieving his ball on a rope toy.

He did it 3 times in a row and the 3rd time he threw it at me so I let him have it on the 4th throw

max just looks at us as if we are loopy when we throw his ball. he loves his ball at home and carries it round and will even fetch it if we throw it up and down tthe living room but when we take it to the park he gets all excited when we take the ball out of our pockets and jumps up and down really looking like a dog who's gonna fetch then we throw it he looks at it then carries on sniffing a blade of grass and we have to send josh to fetch it! i have tried doing it when it is just me and max but then i have to fetch it!

Shadowboxer gave me some good tips. She said that when u find the ball get all excited and the dog should follow suite. It's worked so far.

Indie does the same thing, she'll retrieve in the house. but once we r outside.. she gets all excited.. then i throw it and she either carries on sniffing somethin.. or runs up to it... looks at it and carries on

Sal will retrieve anything - balls, sticks, rings, puppies (especially Tess if she thinks she didn't hear me) children (rounds them up and herds them back towards me, and panics if they go by water strange)
