I have a grip(sp?) on Luna's collar while I throw the retrieve. And then after throwing (and landing) I let go of her collar, wait a couple of seconds and say "retrieve" That's how we are taught to do in the beginning.

It works on Luna. The ideal situation is to reach the point where u dont have to tag on to the collar....

Most difficult thing would have to be trying to get a young Boxer to remain perfectly still for 'Stand for Examination'

SB I can get Saffy to retrieve, stay, sit, stand anything but as soon as anyone goes near here to examine her she turns round and round following their hand

Try standing right in front of her with a food treat in your hand almost on her nose. Keep reminding her that she must "stay". Give a verbal correction if she moves. Reward initially for a couple of seconds of not moving and very gradually extend the time & the distance between you. Easy

Certainly easier said than done. On his good days J can manage to keep all four feet planted but still move every other muscle in his body, quivering with excitement & bending round like a banana. Don't know how he manages that

Thanx SB, I must say Saffy has been the easiest dog I have ever had to train.

She picks commands up very easy, when we got her as pup I was told Boxers arent the easiest to train, but touch wood shes been an angel up to now.

Mind you I did train Max my Dalmatian 5 years ago and after him any dogs is easy lol
