nervous lab bitch- UPDATED 31st AUG

ok im currently trying to rehab a lab bitch, shes 2 years old, and until last week had never been out of kennels.
I took her out of the kennels down a quiet road, which leads to a busier one, she was fine

Trouble is she is very nervous of people she doesnt know, and i would love some advice on getting her use to strange people, she isnt aggressive when people approach, just very unsure and scared.
I know i need to do it graduly, but im not sure how to start

thanks xx

UPDATE at bottom of thread!

I think I've heard something about if you can get people to help you. These people have to have treats and then when they great her they kneel (sp?) down on her level with their side to her and have one hand strecthed out with a treat in it.

I don't know if it works, but maybe Shadowboxer has a suggestion? Is this Purdey you are talking about?

Have no idea if it works, but I've heard that a dog can't be scared and eat at the same time, and we do know how labs are with food right?

Let me know how it went. I'm just as excited as you

Shadowboxer gave me some good advice before for Star about her fear of strangers and it is working, no quick fix but we are getting there. No one approaches Star, Star does the approaching on her terms and is not forced into meeting anyone.

yea, both ideas sound like they could work, i dont think she will approach someone new though, she tends to hide behind me

maybe shadowboxer will help me when shes got a spare minute

If the stranger is holding a nice treat at their side and not making eye contact you never know, she might approach for the treat.

Fingers crossed it works out, but I'm sure it will. You seem like you have patience and knowledge!

I don't think she could be in better hands (well thats how we say it in Denmark)
