American bulldog breed specific problems??

am asking on behalf of my friend who has the most gorgeous american bulldog who she was lucky enough to see born!
she just been to the vets and Bailey is on tablets as she has crystals and blood in her wee and also and allergic/ itchy skin condition
she has also been prescribed some very expensive food! and very expensive tablets!
just wondering if either of these are breed specific or not and if anyone has any advice for her

I don't think they are breed specific however the vet thinks Buster has a food allergy as he gets red itchy paws. I've put him on a hypoallergenic diet and he seems to be fine now.

Do you have any pics of the puppy?

ok so i asked her what Bailey is on:
It's hills prescription diet w/d food. Loxicom oral suspension and 500g synulox tablets. That's all for the bladder prob, waitin for skin results to come bk frm lab

what do the prescription diets actually mean? whats different about them?

Loxicom is an anti inflammatory pain killer (cystitis and/or crystals can be very painful) usually given for arthritis, synulox is an antibiotic to clear up any infection (which may also indicate they think cystitis is involved) and Hills w/d is a weight control diet, also intended to control blood sugar levels.

Did your friend not ask the vet to explain what each thing was for?

White dogs can be prone to have more sensitive skins.

My staff had the same thing - crystals and blood in wee. Does she know what type of crystals they were? Rox was on special food for as long as it took to finish 2 small bags then i changed her to a better quality food than she was on when she got the crystals and no more problems since.
