i think although i am in no way defending them they say it is because these dogs if they adopt them out often end up back involved in dog fighting as it is so wide spread there.
I do agree the problem is widespread however pit dogs often make great pets in family homes where there are no other dogs. More rigirous checks are needed maybe on those that are rehomed and say yearly follow ups or something.

Educating the public would also greatly affect this too imo.

if u have a look at the pittie msn groups, you will see that they r actually very good family dogs and love kids. Jus like the staffies.

I have also seen several pits on there in one home with no problems.
Its jus a shame its these breeds that get into the wrong hands.

Unfortunatley a lot of the bull breeds appeal to the "macho" type person who wants a pe@:s extension and uses a "tough" looking dog to do so lol.

Like all dogs when brought up correctly they are excellent companions!

yeh i totally agree. the majority of people inmy area who have staffies,a nd thats alot. only seem to have em to look 'hard'. Like this one guy walks his dog wth his shirt off, he looks like a right idiot.
And sad to say most of the staffies round here are not nice. but no suprise considering their owners!

Couldn't agree with you more Laura.

It's the owners that need PTS, not the dogs

Laura i watch that program all the time and I just get so upset they are lovely dogs and you would take them in a minute did you see animal cops tonight with the pitbull that was all bitten and thin she came to the guy no bother and her little tail was wagging she was in such a mess. you just want these dogs to experience love and care esp after being through so much and yet all they do is get pts and they go so willingly as well. I am getting upset just thinking about it the poor things.

I watched animal cops last night ( late ) and was discusted to see that a 13 year old boy had been left in charge of a Rotti x Dobe which he had not been feeding, it was tied to a fence with a lead, and was still trying to free itself from the lead whilst almost dead, it passed away on the table while the vet was examining the poor dog get so angry watching programmes like this so i try not to anymore.
