much depends on the type of repair you opt for, prices will vary from vet to vet,
banding will be a lot less expensive than the tplo repair

in this area you can have the banding option from around £350 to £600 and the tplo will set you back around £1200 to 1800 ish depending on breed, size and so on.

Thanks Shona
Its a 42kg GSD, another GSD charged him head first into the joint and flipped him, luckily no spinal damage.

ouch the poor sole, have you chatted to your vet about the type of repair you would like?
the one thing you have on your side is, this was caused by injury not genetic, so its not as though you have to worry about the other side going soon {which often happens with genetic cases}

most people/vets feel with bigger dogs that TPLO is the best option, but that said I know of a good few rotties that have been banded and done just fine on them.
Again much would depend on the dog, do you do a lot with him? what age is he? and so on
massive hugs to you both though, its a rotten thing to have happen

Indie's was about £1800 for the first op, it cost about £5000 from start to finish, she needed a second op to repair a meniscus pad (carried out at Torringtons), with the hydrotherapy courses and all the meds, the amount soon adds up.

There is also a less invasive operation than TPLO called TTA

http://dogkneeinjury.com/tplo-vs-tta...gament-repair/

Costs of after care need to be taken into consideration. Around here TPLO would cost approx £3000 in total

I paid around £2100 for each leg which didn't include follow up x-rays. It does vary greatly depending on which specialist you go to.

Update:
Zandi had a TTA today, due to his size the vet said this would be best option and as an extremely good success rate 90+% and good recovery time, cost of operation £3,312.50 including consultation. Hopefully he will be back home tomorrow and then recovery and rehab work starts.
After examing him and his none injured leg she is 98% certain it is trauma related there is no evidence of any degeneration in his other knee. His hips are still perfect at 5 1/2 yrs no sign of DJD (scored 0:0 when younger), although he has a grade 3 elbows and there is thickening/fibrous tissue around the joints he still has full movement in his elbows.
