with distance control, i start initially by rewarding the dog as soon as it follows the command, easiest way is having a dog with a good "down" and being able to throw a treat at it, so that it is rewarded instantly, as they get more confident, i leave the treat later and later, with my own dogs i dont reward with a treat everytime, but obviously if i REALLY need them to get it right, i will
we work on a tiled floor, its not as hard or slippery as wood.
i have a max of 8 dogs per class

I just had one thought about the website and I hope it's ok to say this...you said in your first post here that you use only rewards-based training, but nothing on the site mentions your training philosophy. When I've looked for places in the past, that training philosophy has really helped me choose a place to go to. The one time I ignored that and went with a place who didn't offer up a philosophy, I got burned pretty bad.

So it might help to get even more people looking for positive rewards-based training if you made it clear on the site. Just a thought!

Your dogs are beautiful by the way. Border collies and Rotties? Two of my favourite dog breeds
took my sweet time about it lol, but done now! on the "club Ethos" page under the dog training tag

Hi Vicki

Just a quick note to say all threads from the 'Your Websites' section have been moved back into the submissions section (which isn't visible on the public forum). This is because we have updated the rules.

To get your thread moved back into the Your Websites section you just need to add your link to the new Dogsey Directory

Once you are in the new Dogsey Directory, just post a note in this thread and a Mod will check it and move it back to the Your Websites section. Alternatively, you can post a new thread in this section if you prefer.

You can see the the new rules here.

If you have any questions, just post in this thread and we'll get back to you. (We'll delete these posts if/when the thread is moved back into the main Your Websites seciton.)
