Cimalgex - side effects

Just had a friend on the phone. Her old dog was put on Cimalgex, a new anti-inflammatory - for spondylosis - 9 days ago and did really well, running about again and looking so happy.
Then my friend noticed some blood in the garen and watched her - she pooed blood. There is a known (if rare) side effect with this drug. It can cause haemorrage and ulcers.
Luckily she spotted it immediately. So if your dog is on it, keep a close eye. As I said, it is rare - but it is serious.

Thanks for the info. My Mum's dog was on it (after knee surgery) but fortunately had no side effects.
I really hope your friend's dog makes a complete recovery from the side effects.

A friend's Dobermann had the same side effect. He made a complete recovery after coming off it. My old Dobie girl is on it and she has become very shakey. I wondered if it was anything to do with the drug, or her just becoming very unstable because of her very bad arthritis.
