skin tags ??

Hi

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on the subject of skin tags - My staffie bruno has quite a few on his chest - as he has no fur down their ( liek a little pig belly) But he has one on his muzzle which has been steadily increasing in size over the last few months..

Why do they get them - what are they and is it sign of something else ?>?

Thanks
dani

Good question dani, I'd like to now the answer myself. Cassy has one on her leg, we call it her old lady flap.

Could be a wart. They're common on older dogs.

They can be removed easily by your vet.

It doesn't bother her, she's had it a couple of years now.

Sorry to sound thick but what do you mean by a skin tag? I have never heard of this before

Like a little flap of skin that just hangs there, a bit like what old ladies get on their necks

Sounds like a wart then. In dogs they look like small 'flaps' of skin which are harmless.

If they change in appearance or size, bleed or bother her in any way, get them checked by a vet.

Just been looking around on the net for some info and the proper name for them is fibropapillomas, skin polyps, fibrin tags or achrochordons.
