Brutus, Patterdale, DOB Jan 05

Brutus, Patterdale, DOB Jan 05

His Story: Found stray Jan 2008 in Wales. Had a chronic ear infection plus. Homed into a terrier family and lived in West London building trust and coping with a house move and new baby into the family. Incident with a niece swooping down on him with 6 other children has lead to extended family pressure for him to 'go'.

Salient points: Brutus has learnt to live as an integral family dog where we suspect that wasn't his life's experience prior to being found stray. Enjoys dog's company, children and people generally, but typical terrier on his terms and at his pace. Not for live in young children and supervised around young children just to protect him (and therefore them) from over intense encounters. Still building his confidence generally.

Advert: Brutus has had a wonderful 2 years living with a couple and being nurtured into their terrier "best-friend and true companion" role! Living in West London, he has learnt to cope with traffic, parks and the comings and goings of his owner's busy work and social lives. He has been very good with a new baby and visiting children. However an incidence has meant that he needs to find a family where young children are not a key focus. He is a true terrier in his fibre. He isn't going to cope with bombardment of attention, he likes to be a little 'on the edge' and to snuggle down into cuddle mode when peace and relaxation rules. He can be left. Barks when the phone, door bell or post appears through the letter box. In certain situations he can come off the lead, but as with "working type" terrier recall leaves a lot to be desired. With no road sense, especially with the chase motive of say a cat, being off lead would put him in real danger.

Brutus is a handsome hunk! The classic wire haired Patterdale..so looks yes, but everything else that comes with the Patterdale also part of the deal! He is neutered, chipped and vax'd. Brutus is looking for a terrier home who understands his intensity, his 'dare' and his 'remoteness' on occasions. Brutus is 'to die for' to the terrier enthusiast - devotion he will attract and a life style centred around his terrierisms a must!
