I didn't know this! Interesting though... I wonder if your vet is more concerned about giving the pup an extra jab because she is only a baby and she felt she was more at risk than your older dog?

As for the ticks - I've had dallies for 7 years (3 dallies over that time) and have never had a single tick!

I was aware of it and Shona always said her vet gave her rotties 3 jabs rather than the normal 2 but what I've never managed to ascertain is whether it is black and tan dogs such as Rotties or dogs that are traditionally thought of as black and tan such as Dobermanns and whether it affects the other colours of those breeds too Confusing innit?

i probably should have come back to this thread alot sooner :S sorry guys, i thought i had!

in the end i never got her that 3rd injection, i kept her with the two, she got her booster at the beggining of the year (well she will be 2 in november )

My last dog was black and tan and I read years ago that they were more prone to parvo.

Shes been dead over 5 years now.
