When to start training

How old were your dogs when you started training them?

As I breed as well, I start my puppies off with house training on puppypads/newspaper at 4 weeks, also teach them about not snatching food, handling them, cleaning them with baby wipes and brushing them, so its nothing out of the ordinary when they go to their new homes.
The ones that stay learn about walking next to me with a collar and lead trailing behind them, as soon as they can go out they go walks to the little park at the bottom of the road, learn to sit at the kerb etc. We start proper training class at about 12 weeks, by then they know the basics.

Training begins as soon as the match is made (puppy/dog with human). Much of it may be unintentional, but learning to live together is, in itself, training (on both sides usually).

More formal training also begins at once, house training, bed time, when to settle down. stopping mouthing etc. That moves on to cooperation on walks.

7 weeks, I brought my new pup to a game reserve direct from the breeder on the day I picked him up, and set him down and walked away from him.

Poor puppy, too young to be away from his mother and then abandoned by you. Words actually fail me

Surely NickyAnn you meant to write more on this subject? You must have fed him at some point and interacted with him? What breed is he?
