to participate in competitive dog sports your dog has to be registered with the KC on the Activity Register.

When my lot went ontot he Activity Register I used the first part of my Son's name (Oscar), the first part of the individual dog's name and the first part of my name (Laura). The second word of the KC name was to do with the dog's character.

For example, Zane is Oszanlau Ganjak - Ganjak is short for Ganja King as he is so laid back; Yiannis is Osyannlau Picaro - Picaro is Spanish for "naughty"; Ellie was Osellau Sol Negra - Sol Negra meaning "Black Sunlight" etc.

The best part of it (IMO) is that you can make up names and do whatever (within reason) you want with them.

I do not know anything about the Activity Register. I just know that when I applied for my KC affix as a breeder I had to offer six choices and accept either the one they accepted, or offer other possibilities.

As it happened the KC accepted my first choice, and as I said, it included my surname.

However that was for a breeders affix and I have no idea about registering a dog on the Activity Register.

None of my Griffons ever did activity/agility!

The applicant(s) cannot use his/her own surname.

They don't anymore, copied off of the registration form guide lines, not sure about activity register though!

That sounds like a nice name.

Does the surname thing apply to the activity register, it may be just the breed register.

Copied from the online form:

Guidelines for Naming Dogs (please read carefully)
• A name must consist of more than one word but not exceed 24 letters (including
Kennel Name)
• A name which conflicts with an approved current Kennel Name granted to
another person will not be accepted
• A registered name cannot be repeated on the Activity Register
• The surname of the breeder/current owner is not acceptable
• A word cannot be repeated when applying to register more than one dog
• If a Kennel Name is to be used, the Kennel Name must appear as the first word in
the name if named by the breeder. If you are not the breeder of the dog, or the
breeder of both the parents, the Kennel Name must appear as the last word of the
name
• Numbers in figures and initials are not acceptable. Abbreviations may be
disallowed
• Canine terms are not permissible e.g. ‘dog’, ‘bitch’, ‘kennel’, ‘champion’, ‘Crufts’
and specific names of breeds
The Kennel Club reserves the right to refuse any name, which it considers
inappropriate or offensive. The Kennel Club retains the right to request a fresh name
for any dog after the registration has been accepted, in the event of a complaint
being lodged with the Kennel Club which is upheld.

This is from the activity name registration.

Aww that's a shame about the surname as I am going to register my working cocker and I was thinking Freddie Full Barr as in he is always fully charge and ready to go but also that he belongs to us if you get my drift. May have to rethink now. Wonder if I could get away with 'Freddie ful bar' or Full Bar Freddie! I did consider fast and furious Freddie but thought that would be taken.
