Bubble has a white spot on her iris

Okay... this wasn't worrying me until I made the mistake of googling it! Now it is a little!

Bubble has recently developed a little white spot on the iris of her eye, I think it's only in the last couple of weeks and although I did wonder about it, I wasn't hugely worried.

She isn't in pain, she isn't bumping into things or acting any different - she can still find me when we go for a walk (she's deaf, so uses her eyes a lot)...

I have recently changed her diet - could it maybe be that? Should we be taking a trip to the vet to be on the safe side??

Thanks!

Definitely worth getting it checked out.

Finn has white spots on both his eyes and it was diagnosed as corneal dystrophy. The specialist said it would be like rain drops on a windscreen so would not really affect his sight.

Thanks Carol

I'd already decided to make a vet appointment - will be calling in the morning.

With her being deaf, I really don't want anything happening to her eyes!!

Good luck I am sure she will be fine

We were told after an ulcer was ruled out it could be a calcium build up or a fatty deposit due to high cholesterol but blood tests ruled out cholesterol being the problem for the dystrophy.

Rule of thumb, when you feel the need to ask whether it's worth calling the vet, you can betcha bottom dollar that it is.

Fingers crossed it's nothing serious xx

lol Trouble is Brierley, we seem to be at the vets so much... and I'm not a big worry-wart, yet my vet thinks I am. Thing is, Takara never makes a fuss if she's not feeling right so it's weird having Bubble who acts like the end of the world is upon is if she has a stomach ache!

I can't see it being a cholesterol/fatty deposit as she is really slender and only has Burns kibble/Nature Diet meat, one or two carrots and a dentastix each day (in fact, I run out of dentastix regularly so she ends up having half a carrot instead often enough!)...

That said, she could easily have got an ulcer from damaging it as she's forever running into things. She's the only dog I know that can run into a TREE, break the branch clean off and only stun herself for a second before charging off again!
