antihistamine and dogs

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's ok to give my dog a tiny particle of an antihistamine tablet, to help relieve his very sore skin infection (he keeps scratching his chest which is making it worse). He is booked in to see the vet on saturday but I would like to help him in the meantime.

Thank you.

Hi
You could give him 1 tablet twice a day of piriton, that should stop the itching until you can get to your vets.
Hope this helps

Benadryl is fairly safe. Up to 1 mg per body weight every 8 hours. It is one of the few things I would give a dog before I got a chance to get to the vet.
