Lulu - 3 Year Old - Female Greyhound
was unwanted by an English trainer and going to be given away 'free on Gumtee' which could have easily put her in terrible danger from a lot of unscrupulous people before we stepped in to offer her a safe place. She is a very sweet girl who sadly looks older than she should at just 3 years of age and is 26" to the shoulder so will curl up nice and small on the settee with you!
Location: Currently living in a foster home in Norfolk.
Key Points: Outgoing, affectionate, friendly, can be nervous and shy to start with but soon becomes very loving, confident with other greyhounds, travels well, great on the lead, not used to small dogs so will need ongoing training and caution around small fluffies, not cat friendly, likes to play. Asks to go out to the toilet and sleeps well through the night.
~ Personality ~
Lulu is a lovely girl who hadn't had a particularly happy life up until Kerry Greyhounds stepped in. She is shy and can be nervous when she first meets new people (especially men) but soon becomes confident and very affectionate. Lulu has her foster Dad wrapped round her paw and is very good at letting him know when she wishes to go out for a walk or is ready for her dinner! She is learning to play catch and is proving to be a clever girl who is very well behaved and responds well to basic training and treats! Lulu is absolutely flourishing in her foster home, her coat is now glossy and she is ready for her forever home!
~ In the Home ~
Lulu has just blossomed in her foster home and is a very well behaved girl who is simply a pleasure to have around. She asks to go out, sleeps well, can be left for up to 4 hours with canine company and is non-destructive.
~ Other Animals ~
Lulu is fab with other greyhounds and larger dogs but has had very little experience of small dogs so doesn't really understand what they are and caution must be exercised at all times around small fluffies. Although Lulu is getting much better she will at times still pull slightly towards small excitable fluffy dogs/cats. Our behaviourist will be on hand at all times to help and support with this ongoing training.
~ Out and About ~
Lulu is great on the lead and in the car and would love nothing more than to go on long walks with her new family. Like most greyhounds Lulu will be content with two 30 minute walks a day and a change to stretch her legs off lead in an enclosed area away from livestock and public roads a couple of times a week. She would also benefit from a garden where she can play ball.
~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family environment, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the retired. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
~ Where Can I Live? ~
Lulu would ideally like a family with perhaps a nice gentle male greyhound who will give her more confidence and a fairly active home due to how young she is and her potential to play! Please also be aware that we do not home any dogs to families with children under 8 years of age.
~ Where Am I? ~
Lulu is currently in a foster home in Norfolk. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a home-checker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to both meet and collect her.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Lulu will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and wormed. A home check will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in adopting Lulu, please contact me (Bronwen) via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
