Joseph - Fawn Lurcher - approx 7 years old
** UPDATED: JANUARY 2014 **
Joseph is a beautiful cream and fawn boy of approximately 6-7 years of age who was dumped in a pound by his owner. There are clear signs of mistreatment: he has lots of old scars all over his body. Although this boy has only been with us since New Year's Eve he is proving to be a firm favourite with all those who meet him.
Location: Kennels in Norfolk. Joseph would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.<br />
Key Points: Joseph loves people and treats, he prefers to be around quieter dogs.
~ Personality ~
Generally: Gentle, loving, affectionate, looooves his treats.
Joseph simply adores people and is good around other dogs although he doesn't overly enjoy dogs being too over zealous or 'in his face' and instead prefers the company of quiet dogs who have very little interest in him. He looooves his treats, did we say he looooves his treats and so will be very easy to train.
~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet in a home, clean in his kennel.
To our knowledge Joseph has sadly not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds/lurchers 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience and although Joseph has not yet in a home he tries very hard to be clean in his kennel and should settle into his home quickly with gentle guidance.
~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Suitable to live as an only dog or with a quite and calm dog.
Joseph prefers calm and quiet dogs as company and gets stressed around boisterous dogs. He has not yet been small dog or cat tested but this can be arranged prior to adoption if needed.
~ Out and About ~
Generally: Excellently behaved on the lead, loves his walks.
Joseph is a delight to walk on the lead and loves to be out and about for walks with you. Although Joseph is not overly active, he loves his walks but loves napping as well! He also loves being warm and cosy. Are you able to offer this gent some space on your sofa, he wants nothing more from life than to curl up with his human in the evening, in front of the fire.
~ Where Can I Live ~
We feel Joseph is best suited to a retired couple or person with another calm and quiet dog or he could quiet happily live as a single dog with lots of treats, attention and cuddles. Joseph likes the quite life so would be best suited to live with a family with older teenagers. If he was to live as an only dog then he would need someone to be home most of the day.
~ Where Am I? ~
Joseph is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to meet and collect him.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Joseph will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home, we are always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.
We would love to find this boy a foster home while he waits to be adopted. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Joseph, you can contact me (Bronwen) via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
, or you can speak to me directly by phoning: 075 000 62648.
There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page.
