leaving pets home alone

Is everyone like me and sometimes feel that our pets left home alone is unfair??? we have been invited to a wedding which will be an all day affair prob 8am tlll 10pm I have told OH that we can't all go it's a weekend that i will have no one to pop in and see to the girls as the family will all be at the wedding as well .....do you sometimes feel that having pets stops us from having more of a social life ??? I don't mind staying at home with them all day but menbers of the family have commented ( your not going cos of the dogs ??) whats your opinion

Having dogs is, and always has been, a wonderful excuse for us not to attend all those boring affairs which would have us absent from home for hours. If our dogs cannot go, we don't go.

Inca, can you not just go to the night time reception? That way the dogs would not be left all day.
