Building a Future
Fingers crossed, I am trying to buy a plot of land to build a house on, together with outbuildings, in a glorious remote spot next to a virgin bog, and I am buying it subject to successful planning permission. I applied for that after a great deal of time and money on the application (you need your own water supply and waste treatment plant out in the sticks 'cos it's WILD and the ground etc has to be tested to see if it is suitable) and the planning decision is due on 29th August. I rang the council today and they said there had been no objections received and it was "looking good".
Planning in Ireland is a bit hit and miss, and if you weren't raised in the same parish, let alone be a National, you can be up against it. Emer Haughy, daughter of the previous Prime Minister, has just had her application turned down - so I thought, what hope do I have!!!!!
However, the "house" I will be building if I can ever afford to build it, is a copy of a traditional Irish cottage to replace the derelict one barely standing there at the moment so I hope they will be sympathetic.
If this comes through, I promise I will be good for at least a week! Can't speak for the dogs, though
Wish me luck! I can't bear to think what I will do if this fails.....
