Castration, bruise or internal bleeding ?

Hi,
Had my boy fixed on Tuesday, i,ve noticed what looks like bleeding under the skin, at the base of his penis, rignt next to but not around the stitches.
I,m not sure if this is just start of bruising, which vet said there would be some, or if it,s something more serious ?
If anybody who has had their dog neutered could tell me what it,s supposed to look like i,d be very grateful.
Thank You
Jim.

Never had any of mine neutered so can't help sorry. If you are worried I'd give the vet a ring, hope it is just bruising.

It looks like bruising to me,I've had my lads castrated in the past and to be honest I would have been elated if their op sites had looked as good as your lads lol. Both my boys ended up on painkillers and antibiotics and the swelling was awful.

Phew, Thank You merryvale,
He,s first boy i,ve had since i was little, and first i,ve had fixed so i had no idea what it was supposed to look like. Was starting to panic, had visions of them having to operate again.
I,ll keep my eye on it but i,m relieved now you,ve said that.
Thank You again x

Hi Jim it looks fine to me just bruised tissue. There is no swelling or discharge and the area looks clean and healthy.

I would keep an eye on it and of course if you are concerned ring the vet.

That looks ok to me, I've seen it like that on my boys. One dog I had castrated was so swollen poor lad he found it hard to walk. The vet kept an eye on it and he was fine.
